Gabriel Montague - Satellite High School
What he has done: Gabe Montague is coming off a breakout cross country season where he was conference and district champion and had a strong PR of 15:29 at the Great American Cross Country Festival. Montague had his outdoor debut at the Flagler Pinnacle Classic where he went 4:24.10 to PR and win the 1600m. Last year at this meet, Montague finished sixth in a time of 4:40.73 -- a fantastic improvement for the Satellite sophomore.
What's to come: Last outdoor season, Montague did not make it out of District in the 3200m. With a new 1600m PR of 4:24, Montague's strength is there to compete with his fellow teammates and Troy Smith of Rockledge for a regional spot, and then to compete for not only a state qualifying performance, but a state-medal opportunity. Keep an eye out in 2A for Montague as he makes his way to one of the top sophomores in the state.
