Jaellene Burgess (Coral Reef) - Girls 400
After running 54 seconds as an 8th grader and a runner-up at the FLYRA Middle School State Championships back in 2019, Jaellen Burgess has transitioned into becoming more of a half-miler in high school including qualify for the 4A state finals this past outdoor season as a sophomore at Coral Reef High School with a 2:16 PR to finish 8th at UNF earlier this month.
This weekend, Burgess will return to her primary event when she came into high school. Her season-best was only 58.87 amongst her two early season races at 400 meters, while last year as a freshman in the shortened Covid season ran 56.29 as the GMAC Champs runner-up. So this 400-meter race will be intriguing to see where Burgess is at in the 400 meters compared to the 8th-grade version of herself who ran a still PR of 54.29.
