Workout Wednesday: Berkeley Prep

Workout Wednesday visit with the Berkeley Prep boys and girls cross country squad of Tampa as they prepare for the FSU Pre-State Invitational this weekend.


Their workout included some hill work hitting up the Courtney Campbell Causeway pedestrian bridge crossing over the waters of the Tampa Bay.

The Berkeley Prep boys have consistently been ranked among the top 5 or top 10 in the state for much of the season with a team that has a legitimate shot of being a state meet podium squad in a very competitive 2A classification with defending champions Satellite as well as Satellite.

The senior Ethan Lipham is one of the state's very best individual runners this fall with numerous invitational victories and consistently running well in the 15-minute range this season (15:29 PR at North Port Invite) as well with three talented non-seniors in their top 5 in Kirin Karver (15:51), Liam Jordan (16:31), and Storm Weber (16:46) along with fellow senior Wolfgang Weber (16:37) rounding out the top five scoring lineup.

The Berkeley Prep boys are strong thru the bare minimum needed at five runners, while the Berkeley Prep girls have shown they have a formidable top four and still trying to finding their fifth to really move them up among the state's upper echelon of squads. Emma Flowers (19:36 5K season best), Anna McDermott (19:43), Kylie Stephens (20:14), and Emily McDermott (20:23). Their fifth faster runner is Liam Jordan's sister Finley Jordan with a 21:33 season best from the Katie Caples Invite.
