Matthew Stratton of St. Johns Country Day was 27 seconds faster than the next best runner in the 1A classification at the FSU Pre-State Invitational with his 15:16 third-place effort in the elite boys' race. He will be a heavy favorite for the 1A state title when he returns to Tallahassee in mid-November. 

The big reason that teams travel to Tallahassee to compete at the FSU Pre-State Invitational every year is a chance to preview the state meet course as well as to measure up just before championship season starts against the top teams and individuals in their respective classification who they will see again at season's end on the same course.
