7. Anthony Scarcello (Christopher Columbus)
Last year's 4A state champions in Christopher Columbus lost several key members due to graduation. The reloading process certainly goes a lot quicker when adding talented freshmen like Anthony Scarcello. Owning the fourth-fastest season-best 5K time among ninth-graders in the state from his 16:36 run at the Spanish River Invitational, Scarcello dipped under 17 minutes for a second time last weekend at the FSU Pre-State Invite with a time of 16:58 as his deep team's seventh runner.
Scarcello also celebrated a big victory at the GMAC Championships only days prior to his Pre-State meet with a 17:17 performance at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami. He has held his own in major invites including a 13th place finish at the DDD Sommer Invite and an 8th place effort at the King of the Hill meet.
