Top Boys Athletes To Watch At FSU Relays

Check out the top entries and seeds in each high school boys event for this weekend's FSU Relays in Tallahassee.

The event's full entry list and our meet preview will come later this week.

THE DISTANCE FIELDS WILL BE LOADED

The distance races are always loaded at the FSU Relays, and this year's 3,200 on Friday -- as well as the 1,600 and 800 meter fields on Saturday -- are no exception.

Nease's Rheinhardt Harrison (PRs: 8:47 in the 3,200, 4:01 in the mile, 1:50 in the 800) leads the field and is entered in all three events as the top seed.

But we will see which race that he actually races in.

There's potential for some more runners to join Harrison in the sub-9 minute club on Friday night, including the likes of Michael Toppi, Nick CarpenterBrayden Seymour, Patrick Koon, and Aidan Ryan.

Many of the same runners will be doubling back for the 1,600 on Saturday.

ZYAIRE CONTINUES HIS PATH TOWARD STARDOM

And yet, the sprints might be the prestige races to watch.

This year they're loaded with star power, including recent adidas Track Nationals 400m champion Zyaire Nuriddin (46.04 in the 400m, 21.14 in the 200m, 10.63 in the 100m) of Montverde Academy.

But he shouldn't feel completely safe. Kevar Williams, the current U.S. No. 1 athlete in the 100m and the No. 2 ranked athlete at 200m, is one of South Florida's fastest. So is Jalen Brown of Gulliver Prep.

Nuriddin is entered in all three events and showed at the Louie Bing Invitational in February that he is certainly capable of handling the triple.

But a fresh Kevar Williams in the 200m? It won't be a cake walk.

HURDLE POWER

The hurdles will also be fiercely competitive.

They will include Florida's fastest and three sub-38 entrants in the 300mH, led by US No. 8 ranked Cyrus Ways of Nease. Ivan Donaldson of Rickards and Tristan Simmons of Miramar are also entered. So is James Turner of Winter Park and Nicolas West of Spanish River. Both seem ready to join the field in the 37-second range.

Simmons and Donaldson will also be among the favorites in the boys 110mH, along with defending FHSAA Class 2A state champion Harrison Robinson of Raines pressing for times close to 14 flat.

MileSplit will have archived race video coverage uploading on-site plus photos from the meet!
