FHSAA 1A State Meet Girls Recap

FHSAA 1A Girls 200m Dash
Azaria Whitehurst (Fort Meade) 23.75

Fort Meade's Azaria Whitehurst successfully pulled off the 100/200 meter state crown double for the second year and unlike her 100 meter dash victory earlier, the sophomore's new personal best in the 200 meter dash was a wind-legal performance (+0.6) in a sizzling 23.75 victory.

Her start was also much better in the 200 meter dash as well as the win was never in doubt coming off the turn and first 100 meters as she powered away from the field. The 400 meter state champion in Twaneise Johnson would add a state runner-up honor to her portfolio with a 24.17 clocking, while Chaminade-Madonna ninth grader Tyra Cox grabbed her second third place finish on the day at 24.50.

The defending state champion in Northside Christian senior Erica Roberts would finish eighth place in a time of 25.19 to at least earn All-State honors after her PR performance in the 400.
