FHSAA 1A State Meet Girls Recap

FHSAA 1A Girls 3200m Run
Caroline Lehman (Cambridge Christian) 10:38.85

In her final high school race for Cambridge Christian and possibly last on Florida soil before she heads off to Notre Dame in the fall, senior Caroline Lehman won her fourth career individual state title (2 in cross country and 2 in track) comfortably repeating as the 1A girls 3200 state champion in a time of 10:38.

Lehman, the two mile state record holder outdoors (10:14) and indoors (10:18), will certainly be looking to compete in the post-season to try and better her high school bests racing fresh and with greater competition.

The race for second place was actually more interesting and intriguing with Lehman's teammate in sophomore Madeleine Gear and Evangelical Christian junior Ava Povich pushing each other to both break 11 minutes for the first time with Gear grabbing second place in a 10:50 PR and just ahead of Povich in third place at a 10:53 PR.

The 18 points from the 1-2 finish by Lehman and Gear only cemented the Cambridge Christian girls as the team champions overall produced entirely by their dominant distance squad.
