FHSAA 1A Girls Pole Vault
Elizabeth Dowdy (Maclay School) 12-00.00
Only a ninth grader, Elizabeth Dowdy went 1-2 with her Maclay School teammate and senior Sarah Caulley Soto in the 1A girls pole vault with a successful clearance at 12'2" or 3.75 meters, which easily bested her prior personal best height of 3.45 meters. The performance also breaks the Florida high school freshmen class record in the event previously held at 3.68 meters by Erica Sargent of Lake Mary from 2011.
Will be exciting to follow Dowdy's progression over the next few years as she could become one of Florida's greatest vaulters ever.
