Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida State sophomore Luke Beevor (Luton, England/Icknield) earned the first Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performer of the Week honors, and first in his FSU career, for his finish at the 2004 Mountaineer Open hosted by Appalachian State. Beevor, who earned the honor for the week of August 30 to September 6, 2004, crossed the line first in a time of 25:14.10 to help FSU to a final tally of 21-points, good for the team championship.
\"Obviously, we\'re very excited for Luke,\" said head coach Bob Braman. \"It\'s a great way for him to open the season, especially after fighting through injury after injury last year, despite leading FSU at nationals.\"
All scorers for the FSU men finished in the top ten overall. Junior transfer Sean Burris (Rockledge, FL/USF) and senior captain Eddy Rodriguez (Miami, FL/FIU) finished right behind Beevor to sweep the top three spots, overall. Sophomore Tom Lancashire (Bolton, England/Turton) and junior Kevin Cook (Fern Park, FL/Lyman) rounded out the Seminole scoring to secure the meet championship. The Seminoles beat fellow conference rival Clemson, who finished in second with 55 points.
