Belen Jesuit Boys Distance Themselves In Home Relay Meet

The Belen Jesuit boys hosted the Fr. Luis Ripoll S.J. Relays on Saturday on their home track in Miami and as expected their distance squad showed out in particularly with their 4x1600 meter relay. The squad anchored by 8th grader Marcelo Mantecon broke 18 minutes, which is a rare feat only achieved by 5 other Florida high school teams in the past according to the MileSplit database and fifth fastest all-time. Their total time of 17:52 averages out to a 4:28 split per leg.


Their 4x800 meter relay also posted an impressive time of 8 minutes flat despite having no real competition as the second place team in Ransom Everglades was 43 seconds back at 8:43. Florida's fastest 4 times currently this season in the boys 4x800 meter relay are all Miami schools between Christopher Columbus at 7:56, Miami Northwestern at 7:56, Belen Jesuit at 8:00, and Braddock at 8:01.
