Florida's Young 200m Sprinters Shine at AAU JO's on Friday

Florida's Young 200m Sprinters Shine at AAU JO's on Friday. Florida has five 200m champions and two Long Jump Champions in Fridays Session 8 of the AAU JO's. None were better than the Girl's 15-16 year-old winner Vanessa Waite of Groveland.  On Thursday she set a new 200m AAU JO National record of 23.26 breaking a 14-year record that was held by Kendall Baisden.  She also tied an 8th-grade class national record that was held by Tamari Davis who is currently in Paris representing the U.S. on the sprint relay pool.

Joining Waite as 200m AAU JO Champions are:

Liam Jones of Gainesville Boy's 10-year-old  25.89
Lilyanna Durva of Ocoee Girl's 11-year-old 25.32
Bobbie Gibbs of Jacksonville  Boy's 12-year-old  23.27
Omar Thomas of Pompano Beach  Boy's 13-year-old  22.98

In the High Jump, both Liam Jones and Lilyanna Durva, were double winners.  Jones took home the 10-year-old title with a leap of 4.95m (16-03.00) and Durva jumped 5.00m (16-05.00) to win the Girl's the 11-year-old title.
