BOYS RACE

The boy's race featured a very talented field. The muddy, sloppy course definitely affected the speed somewhat. The boys went out in 4:35 the first mile with all of the seeded, race favorites out front, including race winner Sr. Luke Alverson of James Clemons in Madison, AL and Sr. Aiden Monistere from Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge, LA. At the hill just before 1000m to go, the top four or five started to separate with Alverson and Monistere pressing the pace. As they came to the finish straight, Alverson set his sights on Monistere who had gone out to around a 10m lead. With 200 to go he made a definitive pass and finished strongly in 14:49.25. Monistere held on for 2nd in 14:57.44. Belen Jesuit Sophmore Marcelo Mantecon was in 5th with 300 to go and finished strong moving into 3rd in 15:00.20, just ahead of Hunstville High School Sr., Eric Moore who was 4th in 15:02.00.
