Mackenzie Winning, Danielle Graham, Anyla Robinson, and Aurora Bertelsen Del Solar set a new Florida girls' all-time record in the 4x800m relay of 8:40.51 in their win at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia this afternoon. The girls' time is U.S. #3 all-time. In the pre-lims on Friday, the girls ran an 8:54.06, setting the stage for their win today. In February, the same four girls won the Millrose Games 4x800m relay, running a Florida #1 Indoor all-time 8:55.47. At the time, it was Florida's #2 all-time girls indoor or outdoor time, second only to Dillard, who ran an 8:49.73 at the FHSAA state championships in 2024.
Mackenzie Winning led the finals off today with a 2:10.95 split and handed off in second to Danielle Graham, who split a 2:09.67. Graham gave the IMG girls a brief lead, but may have moved a little too soon on her second lap. She fought hard, however, in her last 100, and managed to hang on to second place on the second exchange to Anyla Robinson. Robinson ran a strong third leg of 2:12.32 and gave the girls the lead going into the anchor leg. Aurora Bertelsen Del Solar ran a comfortable, confident, and determined final 800 in 2:07.59 to get the win.
On the national scene, the all-time girls 4x800m relay record of 8:33.96 was set last year by Lake Central High School (Indiana) of 8:33.96 at a tri-meet with LaPorte and Merrillville. The number two spot is held by Union Catholic Reg. HS of New Jersey with an 8:34.20 run at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 2024.
