Macon, GA - Florida Atlantic University's Raynell Hagberg was named Atlantic Sun Women's Cross-Country Runner-of-the-Week by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Hagberg receives the honor for the third time in her career and the first time this season after helping the women's team finish third overall at the Disney World Classic.
The junior from Longwood, FL, finished 13th out of 301 runners with a new personal-best time of 18:24 in her first meet of the year. Hagberg led the Lady Owls to a third-place finish amongst 32 teams in competition and was the first A-Sun runner to complete the course. She becomes the second runner from FAU to earn A-Sun weekly honors after freshman Trisha Doyle was named Runner-of-the-Week September 21.
Florida Atlantic returns to action this Friday at the Hatter Cross-Country Invitational. The Owls will be one of 15 Florida teams competing in the event. The women's 5k begins at 4:30 pm, while the men's 8k will start at 5:10 pm.
