In one of the most highly anticipated races of the season thus far, Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit defended his title at the Great American XC Festival in Cary, NC, running a 14:39.00. His teammate, Armando Cruz, was fourth in 14:58. Belen however, was not able to defend their team title finishing fifth with 200 points, as the team from Christ School in Arden, NC took the team title with 150 points.

In the boys' race, Buchholz, led by Demetrie Meyers' 12th place finish (15:24.50) was 9th with 342 points, Oviedo, led by Levi Mollica's 32nd place finish (15:40.80) was 10th with 360 points, and IMG, minus Matthew Dodds, finished 11th with 368 points.
