The Niceville girl’s team won a tiebreaker with Fort Walton Beach to win the 2010 Panhandle XC Jamboree at the Marianna Sport’s Complex in Marianna. Niceville’s sixth runner finished six places ahead of Fort Walton Beach’s sixth runner to secure the victory. West Florida Tech finished third with 99 points.
As expected, Stefanie Kurgatt of Maclay dominated the girl’s race finishing first in a time of 18:59.
Fort Walton Beach’s Sarah Devaux and Ivey Chastain finished second and third with times of 20:25 and 20:26, respectively. Niceville’s Marsel Mosley and Laura Nelson rounded out the top five.
The Niceville boy’s team also held off Fort Walton Beach to win the boy’s title by 49 points. P.K. Yonge finished third with 102 points.
Also as expected, Patrick Swain, the two time 1A State Champion, won the boy’s race easily with a time of 16:34.
