Girls Highlights
Girls 2 Mile
Kelly Parrish hits third fastest all-time by a Florida high school girl. She takes third in the race with a time of 10:22.74 for the full two mile, which converts to 10:19.13 for 3200. Kelly\'s time is oh-so-close to Jenny Barringer\'s #2 all-time mark of 10:18.84.
Bona Jones also set a big PR in the race with a 3200 converted time of 10:51.11--her first trip under the 11-minute mark.
Girls 100 Meters
Brittany Jones took third in the finals, with a time of 11.63; Barbara Pierre of Oak Ridge took 8th going 11.84.
Girls 100 Hurdles
Kettiany Clarke was the lone Floridian to make tomorrow\'s finals in this event. Clark went 14.11, which seeds her 4th for tomorrow. Kendra Newton and Deandra Doyley also competed in the race, but failed to qualify with times of 14.48 and 14.55, respectively.
Girls 4x100
Miami Northwestern qualified for tomorrow\'s finals with a time of 47.07, earning them the 6th spot.
Girls High Jump
Kettiany Clarke tied for 8th, with a best jump of 5-5.
Girls Pole Vault
Caroline Kennedy set a new career best mark, with an excellent vault of 11-11.75. She finished up in 10th place. Alexandra Black and Elise Birnbaum each came out with 10-11.75 and tied for 19th place.
Girls Triple Jump
Tiara Swanagan was impressive with a second place finish in the national meet. Her wind-aided 41-05.00 was quite a bit shy of her state record performance of 42-08.75 that she set last month at the FHSAA Finals, but runner-up at nationals sure makes a fine finish to her senior year.
Boys Highlights
Boys 100 Meters
Jacoby Ford took 5th place in the 100 finals in 10.59.
Boys 2 Mile
The race was not quite what many expected from the three Floridians, who some predicted might dip under the 9 minute mark.
Justin Harbor was the first Floridian to cross the line, with a time of 9:14.26, which was still good enough for 14th place at the national championship meet. Bryan Sharkey was next with a time of 9:26.99 in 19th, with former-Floridian Tim McLeod right behind him in 9:31.18.
Boys 110 Hurdles Prelims
William Patterson failed to qualify, but managed to better his time from the Dekalb International Prep Classic two weeks ago, going 14.54.
Boys 4x100 Meter Relay
Lincoln will be the #1 seed going into tomorrow\'s finals. The crew from Tallahassee took the qualifying round with a time of 41.42. They\'ll be looking to rebound after a heart-breaking DQ in the 3A State Championship race, after going 41.11 in the prelims. They are the national leader in the event, after they raced to a 3rd all-time in Florida 40.54 at the Seminole Invitational this spring.
Barron Collier will be the 4th seed in the finals, after they won their heat in 42.36.
Boys 4x800
Miami Northwestern was the only Florida team competing, but they DNFed.
