Meet Summary
Northside Christian seniors had a big day at the Ed Wells Kiwanis Invitational. Hurdler Victoria Godwin got the party started with a win in the 100 hurdles and then later by completing the double in the 300's. Asia Olds followed that up with a second place finish in the 100 meters in a time of 12.74 behind Lakewood junior Sharell Keys. Olds then took the 200 later in the night with a time of 25.86 as well as second place in the long jump. Teammate Katelyn Greenleaf completed the distance double with wins over Alexis Irwin in both the 1600 and 3200. Irwin won the 800 in 2:22.62. Godwin and Olds paired up to be key legs on Northside Christian's winning 4x4 team, while Greenleaf was a part of the winning 4x8 team. In the field events, Pinellas Park junior Jasmine Laska continued her winning streak taking both the shot put and discus titles. Sophomore Daisha Brown of Largo won both the long jump and triple jump. Northside Christian took home the team trophy with 101 points. Largo and Osceola (Seminole) tied for second with 66 points.
Gibbs junior Trayvon Bromell once again flexed his muscle in the sprints. Bromell was the only runner to go under 11 seconds in the 100 meters posting a time of 10.90 for the victory. He also won the 200 in 22.40. The most competitive race of the night might have been the boys mile (pictured above). Five guys finished under 4:40. Dunedin senior Zachary Maciolek edged out Countryside junior Paul McKenna by five tenths of a second crossing the line in 4:35.24. The most impressive performance of the meet might be that of Shaquem Griffin of Lakewood who pulled off the rare triple. He started outon the field with wins in the triple jump (44-09.00) and then the discus (140-08) To cap the night off, Griffin teamed up with twin brother Shaquill as the first leg of the schools winning 4x4 relay. Lakewood ran away with the team title tallying 110 points 35 more than second place Boca Ciega.
