Congrats Carly: Our Baby Nole

I’ll try to make this short, but I don’t know how best I can do that considering all that Miss Thomas has done for the running in Tallahassee, in Florida and also for me. I do not even know where to begin and I could probably write a whole book on how amazing a person and athlete this young lady is. From a former teammate’s point of view, fellow competitor and best friend; I have seen Carly transform into one heck of a distance runner. She is one of my biggest competitors on the track and cross country course, and yes when we are out there it is pretty much a big battle field. But once off the course/track whoever prevails we congratulate and go back to being best friends. When I see her run, I see the fire in her eyes, the determination and the will to fight and work her hardest.

There is never a moment where she is not willing to try and I don’t think anyone can contest me on that one. It has been such an honor to compete against such a great athlete, and watch her achieve such great things! I remember watching Carly come down the last big monster at the 2009 state XC meet and yelling, “that’s my best friend, what a champ”, and indeed she is! She has definitely done great things and I am one of her biggest fans (I might have to fight for that position against her parents)!

One of the greatest things she has done for me was introducing me to running. My first experience with running was during tryouts at my old middle school. I was all set on becoming this sprinter, but little did I know that really was not my calling. Carly had always done Titus fitness with me and convinced me to try out for the distance events. I haven’t stopped running since then. So I guess I can say, “thank you Carly for introducing me to such a wonderful sport”.

This is one runner that only gives her very best and nothing less! This goes for everything Cary has done, not just running.  The best has yet to come from Carly Thomas, as she goes on to become a Seminole! I think we are all excited to see her at FSU. Get ready to watch Carly do even greater things! So Carly, good luck at FSU and we will all be here cheering you on. Thank you for introducing me to running, thank you for being a great friend, thank you for pushing me during races, for being a role model and hero!
