With the NCAA East Preliminary now in the rearview mirror, the No. 1/6 Florida track and field teams will focus in on Historic Hayward Field and a trip to Eugene, Ore., in just over a week. Florida will take a squad of 23 athletes to the west coast for the NCAA Championships, 12 men and 11 women, to compete for the program's seventh and eighth national championships June 10-13. Diamond Spaulding, La'Kayla Harris, and Symone Mason finished 2-3-4 in the girls high school 200m dash at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon. The trio who posted times of 23.72, 23.93, and 24.01 were unable to out last sophomore Candace Hill of Georgia who won in 23.64.

There may not be a more pure and demanding process in college athletics than qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begins Thursday for Florida State's NCAA East Preliminary qualifiers.
