Sarah Spann (who now goes by her first/middle name Sarah Grace) was the 2010 3A Cross Country Finals state champion running 17:50.43 for 5k. Spann graduated from Fort Myers High School and attended the University of Florida. Since graduating she has been working on a book titled Chasing Freedom. We caught up with her to talk about it's release and what she's been up to since her high school days.

Sarah Spann rounded out her high school running career with a cross country state championship. She signed with the University of Florida, but decided running wasn't in the cards shortly after she arrived on the Gainesville campus. The former Ft. Myers star says she was always interested in living a healthy lifestyle. Recently, she decided to start a website entitled freshfitnhealthy.com which focuses on fitness and nutrition.

Two former high school standouts have created a website for Christian athletes to network with one another and share their experiences. Tyler Cardillo and Sarah Spann, now freshman runners at the University of Florida started UndefinedChristianAthletes.com in December. Cardillo says the response from the community has been outstanding.

We refer to runners as "student-athletes" because they are expected to fill both roles, not forgetting the primary goal of getting an education and prepared for the real world.  Sarah Spann, a senior at Ft. Myers High, not only remembers it but embraces it.  Besides being one of the top distance runners in the state of Florida, she has a 5.0 GPA (has earned straight A's her entire life) and is one of the top 1% of IB students in the country.  Talk about well-rounded!
