We continue our 2016 All Flrunners.com Cross Country Team with our girls second team which includes North Marion's Leigha Torino. 2016 was an incredible year filled with talented runners so not everyone could make our list. We want to thank the running community for a fantastic season and congratulations to the following athletes!

Holloway Park in Lakeland is one of the most scenic cross country courses in the state of Florida and is one of the more difficult ones as well. The site hosts over a dozen meets in the fall so having a chance to run their comes easy. We take a look at the top girls times from 2016 as well as all-time.

Bolles junior Caitlin Collier wouldn't let her misfortune from 2015 stop her from winning the 2A title at the 2016 Cross Country Finals. Michael Phillips of Chiles won his first state title as well. Phillip's dad is the coach for the Timberwolves who were the team runner-up while his mom is the women's distance coach for FSU. As part of our Saucony Flo 50 rankings series, we take a look at the top 25 boys and girls individuals as well as the top 25 boys and girls teams and rank them. Here are the top girls individuals after the cross country state championship.

The 2016 Cross Country Finals showcased the top individual and team talent in the state of Florida. We saw upsets, freshmen phenoms, champions defend their title, and countless personal bests. Ricky Quintana delves into the state meet with a historical perspective.

Bolles' Caitlin Collier wasn't going to lose the Cross Country Finals especially after her heartbreaking performance in 2015. Collier and fellow junior Bailey Hertenstein of Riverview were the lone juniors to break 18 minutes on Apalachee Regional Park running two of the fastest times ever on the course in 17:44.20 and 17:40.36 winning the 2A and 4A titles respectively. We take a look at the top times by girls from the class of 2018.

Riverview junior Bailey Hertenstein defended her 4A Cross Country Finals championship with the fastest time of the day of 17:40.36. A total of four girls broke 18 minutes including 2A state champion Caitlin Collier (17:44.20), 3A state champion Alyson Churchill (17:55.22), and 2A runner-up Tsion Yared (17:59.49). We merged the results of all four classifications to find out the top 500 girls times and who won the week.

Grace Blair led the Oak Hall Eagles back to the top of the podium after a 4th place team finish last year. Blair picked up individual honors as well to win her first state title. On the boy's side Mt. Dora Christian Academy's Gabriel Curtis won and helped the Bulldogs place second as a team behind Westminster Academy who won for the first time in over three decades. Lincoln's freshman Alyson Churchill vs Valerie Lastra of Mater Academy is one of the top matches in 3A. We take a look at the eleven best head to head battles on individuals and team front for the 2016 cross country state finals.  

Grace Blair of Oak Hall was third at last year's Cross Country Finals and the Eagles finished 4th. It marked the first time in a long time that Coach McTureous' program failed to make the podium. Is 2016 the year Blair and the rest of the girls win another title? Will Chase Hyland of the Pine School end his high school career with a championship? We answer these questions and more in our 1A preview.

Grace Blair of Oak Hall and Cooper LaBrant of Indian Rocks Christian both finished second at last year's regional, but came away with gold in 2016. On the team front the Oak Hall girls achieved their goal of winning with less than 40 points, while the boys had it a little harder edging out St. Stephens Episcopal by THREE points 97-100. Oak Hall junior Grace Blair and Indian Rocks Christian junior Cooper LaBrant finished as regional runner-ups in 2015. One year later they both were victorious at Holloway Park with convincing wins of 19:15.30 and 17:04.21.

1A, the state's smallest classification paved their road to state this week during district week. The Westminster Academy girls (shown above) brought home the 1A District 14 Championship with Jasmine Hincapie taking individual honors. Her time of 20:34.54 ranks as the 17th best of the week. Samantha Folio of Holy Trinity clocked an impressive 18:34.18 to win 1A-11 while Drew De Armas of The First Academy ran sub 17 minutes (16:51.00) to defend his 1A-10 crown. We take a look at the top 500 times state wide for class 1A to see who won the week.

Mia Rodriguez of The King's Academy won the Spanish River Invitational 1A/2A race with a time of 20:08.02. Oh and by the way, she's only a SEVENTH grader. Was her performance the most impressive from week four? You vote. You decide. Voting ends Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

Over the course of the XC season we grab dozens of interviews from meets around the state. Each week we are going to feature those interviews and share how some of the top athletes across the state felt after their respective races.

For a majority of girls cross country runners across the state of Florida, breaking 18 minutes is a goal they'd love to accomplish before they graduate. For a trio of juniors, Rafaella Gibbons, Bailey Hertenstein,and Caitlin Collier, it's a feat they've already crossed off their list with breaking 17:30 a possibility in 2016. These three headline the junior class and are three of the best in the nation. We rank the top 100 junior girls heading into the 2016 season.
