2A state champion in the 100mH and high jump, Tiara McMinn of Miami Jackson, makes her mark on the 60mH at the David Oliver Classic. McMinn defeated several other Florida hurdlers in a FL#1 time of 8.66 which ranks as the 14th best in the country. We take a look at the girls indoor leaderboard in every event.

Florida's fastest went into North Carolina and put on a show in the Tarheel State with numerous state leaders, nationally ranked times, and first place finishes in the process at the David Oliver Classic. Scroll through our slideshow to see who had some of the top performances from the weekend.

Palm Beach Central senior and FSU commit Karimah Davis was the star performer of Florida athletes at the LSU High School Classic.

Different event. Same story. Florida is as deep with talent in the quarter-mile as it is the 100 and 200 meter dash. Northeast sophomore Jan'Taijah Ford won the 3A title in 2016 in 54.01s and followed that up with a PR of 53.77 to win Flo Golden South.  Ford is one of five girls returners to have gone faster than 54 seconds. Take a look at the top 100 performances led by Maiah Walkers 53.27s to win the 2A Region 3 Championship.

Six of the top ten girls in our top 100 returning 200m dash rankings have personal bests under 24 seconds led by Katia Seymour's 23.26. That's moving. Twanisha Terry, pictured above, is a Southern Cal signee and one of four 200m state champions that return for the 2017 season.

Two of Florida's fastest girl quarter-milers were in attendance this weekend at the Hoover Alumni Invitational in Alabama with Danielle Bess and Karimah Davis both winning their respective age groups in US#3 and US#4 times of 57.33 and 57.44.

Our MileSplit team was on-site at the USATF Indoor Hoover Alumni Invitational in Alabama and interviewed many of the Sunshine standouts including individual winners Karimah Davis, Lavonte Valentine, Tamari Davis, Tariq Evans, and more.

The USATF Hoover Alumni Invitational takes place Friday at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama and will feature Florida's fastest athletes against the best from the southeast and Texas.

Teahna Daniels won the New Balance Nationals Indoor 55m dash championship in a time of 6.82s, the fastest of any Floridian in the last decade. Daniels, went onto win an NCAA title in the 60m dash as a freshman at Texas and will look to defend her title this indoor season. Palm Beach Central sprinter Karimah Davis chose FSU over finalists, Florida, and Miami. Michelle Howell caught up with her to talk about the decision.

Several of the state's top athletes traveled west to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the LSU High School Classic. Hurdler Braxton Canady and a handful of girls from the Fast Lane Track Club in West Palm Beach took home individual honors and nationally ranked times.

Tamani Wilson of Lincoln and Janaya Chambers of Stanton Prep are no stranger to each other. The duo went head to head at the FSU Relays with Wilson winning out, but Chambers captured the 3A crown at the state meet. Both have identical personal bests of 54.17, tied for second only behind IAAF World Youth qualifier Symone Mason. Check out our top 50 girls returners in the quarter-mile.

Symone Mason's personal best of 23.07s for 200m is not only the top returning time in the state, but the fourth fastest in the nation of those competing in 2016. Mason is joined by Twanisha Terry, Alfreda Steele, and Karimah Davis as the only runners in the state to have cracked 24 seconds and a total of 42 under 25 seconds. Check out the complete list! 21 girls ran under 12 seconds in the 100m dash in 2015 lead by Khalifa St. Fort's 11.19 at the IAAF World Youth Championships where she was second. St. Fort will not compete in FHSAA competition this year as she runs unattached in select open races under the eye of coach and Trinidad & Tobago Olympian Ato Boldon. Look for 2A state champion Alfreda Steele (who moves up to 3A) and 3A state champion Twanisha Terry of Miami Northwestern (pictured above) to battle out for the fastest in Florida at the the end of the year.

Six Florida sprinters will compete this weekend at the Prefontaine Classic in Oregon in the first ever high school events.

Week two was equally as impressive as the season opener as we six US#1's by girls individuals and two more by the ladies of MNW in the 4x1 and 4x400m relays.
