The marching band played as children sprinted back and forth from the long jump pit to the shot put circle. Amidst all the commotion was Scott Millson, bellowing into a megaphone. In 30 minutes, the opening ceremony for the eighth annual Fast Start track meet was set to begin. Fast Start, a yearly track meet for public elementary school students in the Central Florida area held at Showalter Field, was founded by Millson back in 2006. He thought the community needed an event to get kids introduced to track and field at an early age.

Behind The Rivalry: Holy Trinity & Trinity Prep Grant Gordon Nov 13, 2012

Although the schools are small, there is no bigger rivalry in the state of Florida than 1A’s Holy Trinity and Trinity Prep. Well, except maybe Florida vs. Florida State. It’s hard to look past the domination of 1A cross-country over the last decade by the boys from Holy Trinity and Trinity Prep. One of the two teams has won the last eight 1A state championships, and the dominance has even increased in the last five years. Since 2007, one of the two schools has won every 1A state title, and the other school has finished runner-up each time.
