Dear Coach: Flagler Palm Coast High School invites you to
attend the 8th Annual Spikes & Spurs
Classic on Saturday, August 24th. Coach Dave Halliday will serve
as meet director. Chip Timing by Half-Mile Timing for all races. Great awards
and a fun course on and around the Flagler County Fairgrounds, with a new mile
wooded trail and finishing inside the Flagler County Rodeo Arena!

The Spikes & Spurs Classic is a throwback to the days of unlimited runners
on a weekday dual or quad meet. The meet will consist of two High School Races
(girls and boys. The High school races are allowed to run UNLIMITED runners. Let
the Spikes & Spurs Classic decide your varsity! We will cap the team
entries around 20-22 complete schools. Please enter early. This meet will be
sanctioned for Georgia and any other states that will be attending. If any
other states are attending please let me know so we can submit the sanctions.
6:00am Gates Open
7:20am HS Boys' Race (unlimited)
7:55am HS Girls' Race (unlimited)
8:20am MS Boys (unlimited) and MS Girls (unlimited) ONE RACE ONLY!
8:45am Awards
Ceremony
Cost/Fees: $100/High School Single Gender; $150 High School B&G
Middle School $70 for Single Gender; $100 B&G
Combined (first 40 runners each) **$25 for each additional 10 athletes ex. + $25 (41-50) + $25
(51-55) etc. Ex. Total for 40 boys and 50 girls = $150 + $25 = $175

Packet Pick-Up: Packet pick up will start when the course opens Friday at 3 pm and end at 5:45 pm. It
will open again Saturday morning at 6:10 a.m. Coaches must pay by mail to
Flagler Palm Coast HS or have checks in hand to pick up their packets (check is
in the mail does not count). Coaches please make sure you get your packets 30
minutes before your race to ensure enough time to get the timing chips signed
out and onto your runners shoes.
Online Entry: Registration will be on www.directathletics.com. Registration will end
Tuesday, August 20th at midnight. High Schools please enter your entire roster
not just your Varsity runners. Timing: Half-Mile Timing will be using the chip
timing system. There will be instant results scrolling on the finish line
display board. Chipped timed race results will be at: www.halfmiletiming.com.

Team Awards:
Top-3 overall teams Boys and Girls will get trophies and Team Champions receive t-shirts (for the top-10).
Individual Awards:
Top-25 will receive medals
26th-50th ribbons.
Course: The course is 90% is on nice grass trails or dirt and gravel roads around the
Flagler County Fairgrounds and finishes inside the Flagler County Rodeo. The
course will be marked with mile markers as well as kilometer markers. The
Course has been the host site of the 5-Star Conference Meet, 4A-District-1
Meet, and the 4A-Region-1 Meet.
Event Shirts:
Event shirts will be on sale by Shirts On Site, Inc. Multiple colors and
customization will be available.
Parking/ADMISSION:
We will NOT be charging for parking to allow spectators to park in the facility
as well as along the road. HOWEVER, there will be two entry gates where $5 admission will be
charged to all spectators.
Coaches please make sure your
parents are aware of this!
