A VARSITY TEAM MAY ENTER A MAX OF 7 RUNNERS INTO EITHER THE ELITE RACE OR THE INVITATIONAL DEPENDING ON WHICH RACE YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED. ALL OTHER RUNNERS NEED TO BE ENTERED INTO THE JUNIOR VARSITY RACE WHICH IS UNLIMITED. I WILL POST WHICH TEAMS QUALIFY FOR THE ELITE RACE ON MONDAY 9/20 ON THIS PAGE.
DUE TO LOW PARTICIPATION THE PAST FEW YEARS, WE WILL NOT HAVE A MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE THIS YEAR.
Timing
I am very excited to announce that this year we will be using chip/transponder timing provided by CFPI Timing.
Sanctioning
Sanctioned by FHSAA and NFHS for six states: TN, LA, MS, AL, GA and FL.
Last year we had over 100 teams participate from over 50 schools.

Escambia County Equestrian Center, 7750 Mobile Highway, Pensacola, Florida
Course
About 60% grass, 40% trail, mostly flat
Races and Awards
Elite Varsity Races: A max of 7 runners can be entered into this race and a min. of 5 runners is needed for a team score. This race will include the fastest teams registered. I will be placing each team in either the Elite or Invitational race and will post the entry list of teams entered on this page on Monday, September 20th. Individual athletes can be accepted into the Elite Race, with coaches blessing (contact Coach Oliver), to run in a race apart from their team. These Individuals must meet the minimum qualification standards of 17:00 for boys and 20:00 for girls. The Individual champion of the Elite Race will get a statue trophy and Elite Champion t-shirt. Second through fifth place individuals will get medals plus a top 5 elite finisher t-shirt. Sixth through twentieth place individuals will get a medal. Team trophies will be award to the top 3 teams.
Invitational Varsity Races and JV Races: A max of 7 runners can be entered into the Invitational race and a min. of 5 runners is needed for a team score. A team can enter as many runners as they want into the JV races with a min. of 5 runners for a team score. For both races we will have individual 1st 10th medals and team Trophies to the top team.
Class Trophies: Top runner of the day for each class for both boys and girls will get a statue trophy.
Registration
Registration will open on September 10th at directathletics.com. The registration deadline is 11:59pm Saturday, September 18th, 2010.
Entry Fees
Varsity Races: $60 for a single Varsity Boys or Girls team, $120 for both. The cost is per individual Varsity Runner is $15.
J.V. Races: Free and unlimited for both boys and girls teams as long as each team has a paid varsity team running. Otherwise it is $60 per gender to enter an unlimited number of runners or $15 a runner. Make checks payable to West Florida High School Cross Country. Mail checks to: Jeffrey Oliver, West Florida High School, 2400 Longleaf Dr., Pensacola, FL, 32526. You may also pay the day of the meet.
Admisson
$5 per vehicle, comes with a free drink ticket.
Team Dinner Social
We will be hosting a team dinner social the night before the race Friday September 24th, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Coaches may also pick-up their race packets anytime during this event. It will be held at Sam's Fun City, which is located at 6709 Pensacola Blvd., Pensacola Fl, 32505. The dinner will be a Pasta Buffet including salad, desserts and drinks for only $10 a person. This event will also include Unlimited Go-karts for $10 a person(Family and Rookie Track) OR Unlimited Laser Tag for $10.00 per person from 5:30pm-9pm. The Best Western Blue Angel Inn is one of the newest hotels in Pensacola and it is very close to the Equestrian Center. They will have a special low rate for teams attending the Gulf Coast Stampede. This is one of the newest hotels in Pensacola and has had great reviews. Call them for more information at 850-477-7474.
Running Wild
Running Wild, our local running apparel store, will have a tent set up at the meet. They specialize in fitting every person to the proper shoe and apparel. They will analyze your unique biomechanics to determine your degree of pronation and from there they can narrow the shoe selection to a stability, motion-control, or cushioned shoe. They will also be selling the latest in racing flats and spikes. Call them at 850-435-9222 for more information.
