Nothing has been able to stop the Miami Northwestern Bulls, not for the last eight years. The Bulls made it their eighth straight and their 13th overall championship over the weekend at IMG Academy in Bradenton. It was not even close. The Bulls amassed 157 points over Friday and Saturday. Runner up Northeast came in at 43.50. The Bulls don't just do it with a handful of athletes.
The 2016 FHSAA State Finals has switched to a two day all-classes schedule and for the first time ever will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton. Northside Christian's road to state has seen them finish runner-up at both districts and regionals behind Admiral Farragut in meets that went down to the boys 4x400m relay, the final event of the night. We caught up with Coach Jeff Goodwin to talk about his team and their chances for a state title.
American High School freshman phenom Tyrese "Smoke" Cooper doesn't like to lose. Cooper is the favorite to win the 100, 200, and 400 as well anchor the second seeded 4x400m relay team. His performance will be valuable in the Patriot's race for a team title against the likes of Lyman and my alma mater Osceola who is the favorite in our virtual meet. Northeast High School freshman Jan'Taijah Ford or T1 as she's nicknamed is the favorite in the 400 and ranked third in the 200m dash. Ford will also run the 4x400 for a stellar Hurricane team. Trouble is they are in the same classification as Miami Northwestern and the Lady Bulls who are on pace to win their 8th straight state championship by a large margin. American Heritage sophomore Anthony Schwartz will play a major factor in his team's chances to win a state title. Schwartz is the top seed in the 100 and 200 and anchors the school's number one ranked 4x1 and 4x400m relays.

Watch Dr. Phillips and the rest of the boys 4x800m field duke it out for 8 laps with the top five times finishing in 7:57 or under. Lake Nona's 7:57.04 is fifth and misses out if that tells you just how exciting this race was!
