Her personal best time of 11.33 at the Brooks PR Invitational is the second fastest returning time in the nation behind fellow Floridian Khalifa St. Fort who recently committed to UCLA.

Team USA ran the fastest 4x400m relay time in the prelims, a world junior leading 3:23.73, and didn't disappoint as the favorites headed into the final day of competition at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships. Shamier Little led off for the Americans with Olivia Baker second and University of Miami freshman and former Dillard star Shakima Wimbley getting the baton as the third leg. Kendall Baisden brought it home for the foursome, in 3:30.42, an improvement on their world junior leading time set the day before.

Rochester native Lauryn Williams heading back to Olympics in new sport Jan 20, 2014

Lolo Jones recalls the casual conversation. But it's pretty clear she put some real thought into it. She looked at Lauryn Williams, a fellow Olympian and her dinner companion at a track meet last summer, and she thought she would let her in on something. Ms. Jones had been a member of the U.S. bobsled team as a push athlete since 2012, working toward next month's Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Ms. Williams, 30, a native of Rochester was headed toward retirement from track and field, and Ms. Jones saw in her a chance to witness history. Ms. Jones encouraged Ms. Williams to learn to bobsled. Six months after Ms. Williams joined the race for Russia, Ms. Jones' selfless suggestion was rewarded. Stefani Kerrison isn't a big talker. Even when I asked her some questions for this story, short responses were all I had to work with. The Jones senior lets her performances on the track do the talking for her. As a junior, she won the state championship in the 100 meter hurdles; her first year doing the event. She set a personal best of 13.86, but improved that mark in postseason competition, running a state leading time of 13.56 at the USATF National Junior Olympics. The success has paid off in terms of a college scholarship. Kerrison initially thought she would be headed to Clemson, but after a trip to in-state schools Florida State and the University of Miami she had a change of heart.
