Trayvon Bromell ran his way to the third-fastest all-conditions 100 meters in collegiate history when he won the Big 12 Championship in 9.77w. The freshman became the one to beat, and eventually took home the NCAA crown.
The stages keep getting bigger for childhood friends Trayvon Bromell and TJ Holmes. The pair have been racing each other since they were in grade school. They joined the same youth track club and grew up together. They both attended high school in south Saint Petersburg and they both landed on the prestigious Baylor track team for their first year of collegiate track. They are college roommates and will even be rooming together for the World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon this week.
After winning the NCAA Championship 100 meter dash last month at Hayward Field, Trayvon Bromell returned to the historic University of Oregon track for USA Juniors. The performance wasn't quite the 9.97 he put up to win his first title as a Baylor freshman, but his 10.07 was good enough for the win and a spot on team USA at the World Junior Championships next week. Bromell, one of the favorites to bring home gold will be blogging throughout his journey over the next week.

The 2013-2014 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.
Former Gibbs High School standout Trayvon Bromell continued his fantastic freshman season as a Baylor Bear. According to Track and Field News World Rankings, Bromell's 10.01 to win the Texas Relays was the second fastest in 2014. At the Big 12 Championships this past weekend, the speedster ran 10.09, the fastest time in the prelims, and followed that by a wind-aided 9.77! Although it was aided by a 4.2 m/s wind, that is still moving, and would give him the fastest wind-aided time in the world! Baylor finished fourth as a team behind Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma State.
Given the weekend Baylor frosh Trayvon Bromell had at the Texas Relays, not even Division I Men’s National Athlete of the Week honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday could top his recent list of accomplishments. (via USTFCCCA)

There is no doubt Florida is one of the most talented states in the country when it comes to track and field. We wanted to honor the best of the best with our 2013 Track & Field Athlete of the Year awards. Trayvon Bromell of Gibbs High School is our winner in the Boys Sprints/Hurdles Event category. Bromell had a spectacular senior season picking up his first two state championships, and winning several national meets, earning himself even more postseason hardware and recognition.
State champion, Golden South champion, Great Southwest champion, New Balance National Outdoor champion, and USA Junior champion. Gibbs High School senior Trayvon Bromell has gotten used to winning over the past several months.

The 51st Annual Ed Wells Jr. Kiwanis Invitational stayed with some conventions and broke completely with others. The Lakewood boys continued their winning ways, while the Osceola girls upset Lakewood and Pinellas Park.
