In Her Own Words: Kendall Ellis

St. Thomas Aquinas junior Kendall Ellis will be blogging for us during the 2013 track and field season. Kendall earned her second consecutive title in the 400 meters at the 4A state meet and is looking for number three this year. She recently finished fifth at the Brooks PR Invitational. Follow along on her journey throughout the year.

Hey everyone it’s Kendall Ellis. It’s my first time blogging but I’m really excited to be starting on flrunners. I promise I’ll get better with each one so don’t worry. My training so far has been amazing. I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in so early in the season and I can't wait to see what will happen this year.

Last week, I ran my first indoor meet ever at the Brooks PR Invitational. Although I didn’t perform the way I wanted to I have to accept it was my first indoor meet and just learn from it. No worries, it was still an absolutely amazing trip getting to meet the nation’s top runners, see the Space Needle, and make a Harlem Shake video. It had to have been one of my best experiences yet especially because of all the free gear they gave me. I'm talking shoes, bags, shirts, tights, everything.

Now the fun stuff;’m big on team bonding so every year my team and I have our take on secret santa called secret sisters. You know how it goes, write 5-10 things you like, pull a name, and then exchange gifts. We always put the typical girly stuff like headbands, nail polish, socks, and candy. It’s just a cute way to interact with each other instead of the usual dying on the track during practice. Comment and let me know how you guys like to bond with your teammates I'm interested in hearing it.

Alright that’s it for this blog. Don’t forget to go for the gold and good luck with all your meets and training!
