In Her Own Words: Kendall Ellis

Hey guys! You know you’re excited to go out of town when you actually start packing before the morning of the trip. Well at least that’s how it is for me. This weekend part of the St. Thomas Aquinas team is headed to Jacksonville for the Bob Hayes meet. It’s always a fun time when my teammates and I get to go out of town. This is prime time bonding and the excitement is real. Follow me on Instagram @kandii_kendall to see pictures of the trip.

Last week we had the Sam Burley. Longest meet of my life second to districts last year. Twelvehours long. It was crazy to still be on the track at 11:00 at night, but it was a really good meet. I finally hit 55 seconds in the 400 for the season and carried out all the techniques my coach has been trying to get me to understand so it was definitely a success. This week we have a meet at Carter Park with all the Ft. Lauderdale schools. We’ve never done this meet before, but it should be an experience.

Personally, I’m getting deeper into my college recruitment process. Because of NCAA rules and me being a junior of course I can’t do any official visits and what not yet, but it is fun getting to begin the process with emails, phone calls, and the occasional Facebook message or friend request. It feels good knowing coaches are interested in me and I love receiving questionnaires in the mail so much so that every one I get, I hang up on my wall. I swear I live in the athletic office at school. I’m always asking if something came for me day after day. I won’t reveal where exactly, but I look forward to going on some unofficial visits this year and exploring my college options. Comment and let me know what your college recruiting process has been like and if you have any advice hey I’d love to hear it.

As always, go for the gold and best of luck in your meets and training!
