Hello everyone. I hope everyone is having a great start to their week. I had to come back to reality as Spring Break has ended for me and I am back to school. Things are really starting to sink in as we only have a little over eight weeks of school left. I am nearing my last few high school track meets and every day goes by so quickly. Last week was FSU Relays and it was bitter sweet after racing that meet for five years in a row. There were some outstanding performances though and I’d like to congratulate everyone for their achievements. Maclay had several pr’s and school records and I am so proud of everyone. There would have been more great performances, but due to the rain and thunder the meet was cut short Saturday. All in all it was a great meet and always well run by FSU and Coach Chris Sumner. They put a lot of work into it to make sure it is run smoothly and well. So, thank you for everyone who made it a success for all these years.
One of the most exciting things for me this past weekend was getting to meet my new fellow Hoya- Faith Woodward. She will be playing basketball for Georgetown and she is so talented. A lot of you probably know that she is state champ in the high jump also. It does not get any better than that, Anyway, I met her after my 800m and I’m so excited to be making connections even before I get to college. It really is a small world though. As for my 800m race, it went very well and I was pleased. I was going into the race looking for a solid performance coming off a lot of indoor racing. The previous weekend I raced in the two mile at Georgia Tech, so it was time to change the speed a little. I crossed the line feeling the strongest I’ve felt this whole season. I am coming into form at the right time and my coaches and I are excited about what’s to come.
So, there are two ladies on the team that I am going to miss a lot and I’d like to give them a shout out. Tamani Wilson ran to a pr of 57.6 in the 400 at FSU relays. Did I mention she is a freshman> Ever since she came to Maclay and came out to run I knew this was a very talented young lady. I am so proud of her and it has been amazing seeing her progress. Watch out world, this girl had big things ahead of her. Then there is Lindsey Poole, a sophomore on our team who can do just about every event she puts her mind to. She runs varsity cross country and is our school record holder in the discus. I don’t know any other person who has that much range. I have been on the team with her for five years and it’s been the best five years ever. She is so determined and has really good work ethic. A lot of records will be taken down by these two ladies. I couldn’t be more proud of them and I will miss them so much. Keep up the great work and strive for nothing but the best. Love you ladies.
That is it for now. Hope everyone is training hard and racing hard. Always remember the hard work put in practice will come out during your races and field events. Track and Field in the state of Florida never seizes to amazes me! Keep up the hard work everyone.
God Speed and Go Hoyas!
