In Their Own Words: Autumn Bartlett - Looking Back As A Day Long Awaited Arrives

Hey FLRunners! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Autumn Bartlett and I am a rising senior at University High in Orlando, Florida. First I would like to thank Todd and FLRunners for allowing me the opportunity to blog this year about this upcoming season which I am so very excited about.

As July 1st rolls around I feel the excitement of a day that I have waited for since I fully understood what it meant to be recruited and I cannot help but remember the journey that has lead up to this road of potentially signing with a college this upcoming year!

I started running in 7th grade on Good Shepherd Catholic School’s track team. However I didn’t truly discover my love of running until freshman year. I had some successes in my freshman year but my progression as a runner really has happened between my sophomore and junior years. As I began to realize the importance cross country and later track had in my life, I worked at improving my running so that I could do better each season and as senior year approached, so that I could potentially earn a spot on a college team.

My motivation to improve as a runner has brought me to the place I stand now, looking forward to my senior year of high school and my fourth season of high school cross country and track. Although there are goals that I have not yet reached and I know that there is still work for me to do before I have the opportunity to represent a college running team, I realize how far I have come in my running career. More importantly, I am really motivated to achieve my goals and I’m ready for this season to be the best one yet!
