We go all access as the Lincoln Trojans prepared for the district championships. Coach Poole's squad incorporates weight training and hill work early in the season. He says the hill work offering amazing benefits at the end.
"It improves stride frequency and length, it quickly develop muscle coordination and promotes speed and strength endurance. I believe two days a week is sufficient for maximal results. The week before our district meet, Monday and Wednesday were perfect days to take advantage of our hill training."
Two of my favorite hill workouts before districts are 4x250yd at 80% of intensity for strength endurance and 6x60yd at 90% of intensity for speed. Athletes must maintain proper form and sprint mechanics when performing these workouts.
