The Dr. Phillips' boys track team is loaded with speed. Coach Fleitas inherited several top football standouts to add depth to his program. Over 100 athletes came out (boys and girls) the first week of practice and tryouts had to be made to field this year's group. That's not a bad problem to have considering the boys tallied 43 points and were one point away from a podium spot. The Oak Ridge girls track and field program has won nine state titles since 1981. Five of those became between 1981-1988 while the other four were between 2004 and 2008. Pioneers head coach Odeika Bent was a part of those recent championships and graduated from the school in 2007. Led by UF signee Sharrika Barnett and a group of young sprinters, the team is hoping to continue that rich tradition. We take a look at the 2015 squad and the hard work they are putting in on the track and in the weight room.
