(Josie poses with Matthew Centrowitz after his gold medal performance in the mens 1,500m.)
These past four days have been one of the best experiences of my life. It was so awesome being able to witness all of these amazing professional athletes compete and being able to meet and talk to some of the best athletes in the world.
The trip taught me so much, like A LOT can happen in the last 200 meters of a race, as demonstrated in the men's 1500 meters finals, and in the men's 3000 meters. I also loved watching the women's 3000 meters which started at a fairly slow pace for the first couple of laps , around 2:40 for the first 800, but then Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia took off.
All of the races were incredible to watch and the crowd was insanely loud cheering everyone through the finish line. Mo Farah was even there watching and although I didn't get to meet him it was pretty cool seeing him on the big screen!
I also got meet three of the best athletes in the world. I met Jenn Suhr (pictured), world record holder in the pole vault, on Friday night on the bus and we talked to her, her coach, and her manager all the way to Pioneer Square where the medal ceremonies were going on!
Next was Ashton Eaton, world record holder in the Heptathlon Friday night at Pioneer Square. His mother helped me get a picture with him which was pretty cool!
Then I met and took a picture with Matthew Centrowitz on Sunday who won the men's 1500 meters which was probably the best race I have ever seen!
This experience was so awesome and one that I will never forget! Hopefully one day, if I train hard enough, I will go again to the world championships but not to watch, to compete!
