Who Proved Us Wrong In Preseason Rankings?

4A Girls and Boys

Girls

Not much has changed with the 4A girls teams. Winter Park comes in as the favorite for this classification and a solid week at Great American confirms the depth of this squad. Emma Noel, Courtney Coddington, and Jennifer Coddington lead the wildcats to a 20:03 team average with their top seven all under 21 minutes.

Sarasota has proved us wrong in the team rankings as they make their way up and take the second spot for 4A teams. The state meet could be a battle between Winter Park and Sarasota, only time, and racing, will tell.

Amber Schulz and Mary Ellen Eudaly are two freshmen that the classification gained this year. Both have had very speedy seasons consistently in the 18 minute range and it will be exciting to watch them compete at their first HS state meet.

Alyssa Hendrix (18:03), Rylee Pustilnik (18:05), Ashley Klingenberg (18:22), and Alicia Ruiz (18:27) have all had fast seasons and remain as top contenders in the rankings.

Boys

We told you to watch for Sarasota this season and their actions show they are eyeing the 4A state title. Ben Hartvigsen leads the Sarasota squad with his new PR of 15:08. The team has their top six sub 17 minutes and they finished 14th overall in the Great American Race of Champions and the third FL team. Their JV team competed at the Tri-County Championships that same weekend, and showed that this squad has depth beyond their varsity teams.

Steinbrenner comes in at number two with Davis Bly, Ryan Gorman, Zach Harrigan, Blake Walker, and Gabe Lara leading the way.

West Orange has made it's way up in the team rankings. With Nicholas Miller leading the way, the team comes in at number 3 for the 4A boys.

Caden Monk (15:52), Jonathan Reid (15:52), and Aidan Breslin (15:53) are just another few names that have made the top of the rankings as the season has progressed and athletes to look out for as this championship season gets started.
