Mater Academy senior Valerie Lastra announced her commitment to the University of Central Florida Sunday. The future Knight took to her personal Instagram to announce the news.
Lastra is a multi-time state champion in both cross country and track, as well as a foot locker national qualifier. She currently holds the Apalachee Regional Park course record of 17:17 that she ran to win last year's 3A Cross Country state championship.
She holds PR's of 4:47 in the 1600m, 2:14 in the 800m, 10:29 in the 3200m, and 17:17 in the cross country 5k -- a stellar distance pick up for the UCF knights as they kick off their recruiting class.
Lastra will push onward to the state series beginning this week as she makes a run to defend her state title.
