Previewing Saturday's Races At FSU Relays

Girls 400m Dash

Alivia Williams of Montverde Academy won the girls 400 meter dash last year out of the slow heat with a time of 56.44. She won't have to worry about not being placed in the fast heat this year as the reigning meet champ has dropped her 400 time down to a FL No. 5 best of 55.02.

She will be hard pressed for another win with another competitor flirting with her first sub 55 second performance in Wharton senior Serenity Brazell. Brazell was the 4A state runner up last spring with 55.03 personal best is currently ranked FL No. 10 with a 55.95 personal best.

Several out of state sprinters in the field including Gabrielle Washington, Ariyanna Williams, and Daisy Luna will be in the mix as well having posted times in the high 55 second to low 56 second range.

Bishop Kenny's Gabrielle Johnson and Maclay's Rachel Bethke both have run times this season amongst the top 15 in Florida and have to be considered sleeper picks in this race.

Boys 400m Dash

The defending FSU Relays champion and nation's top returnee at 400 meters is back in Tallahassee this weekend as Zyaire Nuriddin will be looking to remind everyone else that he is still the quarter mile king. Potential for a U.S. No. 1?

Time to beat right now is 46.45 for Nuriddin to take over national leaderboard in his 2023 outdoor season debut. He clocked a meet record of 46.19 in his 2022 FSU Relays victory.

He will be pushed to run a 46 on Saturday with recent Bob Hayes Invite champ Micahi Danzy (46.84 PR) of Florida High and Montverde Academy teammate Jayvian Greene (47.56) ready to roll with him as well at the FSU Relays.
