GIRLS ELITE RACE  Pre-Season 2024 Rankings

Two of the top 5 and three of the top 10 returning girls in the Pre-Season rankings are scheduled to go head-to-head in a repeat of the 2023 race.  In 2023, then 7th grader Annabella Tomasic (1) of Lake Highland Prep finished 2nd to Bishop Verot's Jr. Mackenzie De Lisle.  De Lisle ran 18:12.00.  Tomasic 18:15.00.  Jr. Alyson Johnson (4) of Creekside was 3rd in 18:45.  Sr. Mackenzie Roy (9) of Spruce Creek was 16th in last year's race with a 19:29.00 but finished the season with a 4th place in the FHSAA 4A State Championship.   Following the Cecil Field Summer Classic, Tomasic went undefeated the remainder of the season in XC, winning the FHSAA 2A State Championship meet.  Creekside's Alyson Johnson finished her regular season, ranked FL #7 with a 17:49 and was the FHSAA State 4A Champion.

Two additional girls in the Returners Rankings are 8th Grader Mary Summers of Seven Rivers Christian School and  Jr. Jazlyn Forbes  of Oasis.  Both girls will be running at Cecil Fields for the 1st time and are entered as individuals.  Summers, as a 7th grader was 3rd in the FHSAA 1A State Championships last year with an 18:18.40.   Forbes was 6th in the FHSAA 2A State Championships and is #6 in the pre-season rankings.  She won last week in her season opener at the Dunbar Tiger Jamboree.

GIRL'S TEAM RACE  Florida's Top 100 Fastest Returning Girls XC Squads by Div

In the Girl's Team Race the Pre-Season Returning #3 and #4 Ranked teams in the state, The Bolles School and Buchholz, should have an interesting and competitive season opener based upon the returning girls' 5K times last season and not taking into account any new team members or Middle Schoolers that may move into the top 5 scoring positions.   Bolles is the #2 ranked 2A team and Buchholz is the #1 ranked 4A team.  Also in the mix may be the Creekside girls.  They are the #5 returning ranked 4A squad, but with the addition of Alyson Johnson's sister Sydney, the confidence that Jr. Sarah Rose gained on the track this spring, three top ten finishers may not be out of the question.
