The Red Sea Running Club wins the Middle School XC Nationals

The Middle School XC Nationals were held yesterday at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.  There were over 1,000 runners and 100 middle school club and school teams.  The Red Sea Running Club won the 16 team, 4K School Division, producing four Middle School All Americans.  The Tavares boys scored 53 points outdistancing Ohio's Worthingway Middle School and Sacramento's Miwok who was 3rd with 70 points.  8th graders Nicholas Alvarez and Omar Castillo were both named All-Americans placing 6th and 14th overall, while twins Emiliano Lozano and Navid Lozano just missed the top-25 All-American status placing 26th and 27th. Eric Chen closed the scoring in 63rd place.


The Red Sea girls were the National Runners-Up behind Miwok. The girls scored 67 points, well ahead of 3rd place Pennsylvania state champion Hempfield Area Middle School's 98 points. Laken Hartley and Lindsey Mishler were named All-Americans placing 10th and 23rd overall. Jimena Nava-Garcia just missed out on All-American status crossing the line in 27th place. The other scorers for the Red Sea girls were 7th grader Isabella Neal who finished 83rd and 6th grader Kayla Santos who was 155th.




In the 2K elementary school race, Alian Alvarez was the individual National Champion in a time of 7:28.10.Joining Alvarez in the Elementary School All American Status were Emma Williams and Avery Maldonado with their 10th and 21st place finishes. On the boy's side,  Joshua Kelley earned All-American status placing 8th in the elementary boys race. The Red Sea girls elementary team placed 5th overall.


In the boy's 4K race, Douglas Seth, running for Imagine Town Center,  also earned All American status with his 12th place finish.
