The Florida Distance Project - March 9-15

The Florida Distance Project is a more in-depth weekly look at the top performances from the past week in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m.

To get a mention in the FDP, you need to put up a time that catches our eye and beats a standard. The standards will fluctuate throughout the season and drop as we move deeper into the season.

This week's standards for the boys were: 1:56 (800), 4:20 (1600) and 9:20 (3200).

This week's standards for the girls were: 2:16 (800), 5:10 (1600), and 11:10 (3200).

It seemed like an off week in the Florida outdoor season as attention shifted back to the 2025 Indoor season with the  NBNI and NIN championships. Interestingly, no boys met the previous or this week's standards in the 800, 1600, or 3200. The top ten times for the week are listed. The girls on the other hand, continued to assault the standards with girls in each event.

I thought it would be interesting to compare the boys' and girls' top 10 best times through Week 5 in 2025 with the Top 10 times through the same period in the 2024 season. The top times are bolded. The boys' times in each event are mixed in the 800 and 1600. The boys 2024 3200 times were all faster. With the exception of the 800m, all of the girls 2025 times are faster than in 2024.
