Week 2 of the 2025 Florida Cross Country Season is in the books. Some individuals and teams who opened in week 1 did not run. For other individuals and teams, this was their opener. Here are just a few highlights from several meets in Week 2.

At the DDD Sommer Invitational, on a challenging Estero Community Park course, senior Jazlyn Forbes of Oasis demonstrated why he is one of the top girls runners in the state at this time. Forbes destroyed the course record of 18:28.10 set in 2018 by Cape Coral's Cheyenne Young, running an 18:06.2. It was the season opener for Forbes, who broke the course record at the Dunbar Tiger Jamboree two weeks ago with a 17:55.30.
Mariner's Angel Cruz won his second race of the season at the DDD Sommer Invitational with a fast 16:17.10. The senior won last week at Lehigh Lightning Invitational with a 15:45.70 nd is ranked number eight in the state.

Whispering Pines Invitational
At the Whispering Pines Invitational in Inverness, junior Axel Sallault of East Ridge led his team to the win with a 15:54.9. Sallault was challenged by senior Oscar Brown of Sunlake, who just missed dipping under the 16:00 minute mark, running 16:02.5.
In the girls' race at Whispering Pines, number five-ranked freshman Mary Summers of Seven Rivers Christian took the win with an 18:22.2 over number nine-ranked Tavares junior Cheyenne Thomas, who ran 18:54.0.
The girls' team race at Whispering Pines ended in a virtual tie between East Ridge and Vanguard (Ocala), who both scored 56 points. East Ridge took the win with their six runner placing 15th. Vanguards' sixth runner was 25th.
Stampede Sprint hosted by Florida Sports Coast
The girls' team race proved to be one of the better races of the day at the Stampede Sprint in Wesley Chapel. The meet, hosted by Florida Sports Coast and run at Wiregrass Ranch, saw Riverview (Sarasota) hold off George Steinbrenner 93-96. The girl's individual race at the Stampede was won by sophomore Madison Muller of Riverview (Sarasota) with a 17:55.50. Muller's time is a Florida number three at this time.
Oliver Dempsey won his second race of the season. The Geneva Classical Academy senior ran 15:48.4 to take the win. Dempsey opened last weekend with a win at the Jim Ryun Invitational in 16:08.50.
Pace Patriot Invitational
The Pensacola Christian girls won the team championship, scoring just 42 points, led by senior Jaimee Tutton, who won with a 19:09.3. Senior Isabel Harter of Choctawhatchee challenged Tutton and finished second in 19:13.3.
