Terrence Mitchell DQed from County Meet, Could Miss State Series

There was a huge amount of controversy at the Hillsborough County Championship today.   Hillsborough senior Terrence Mitchell, who ran a 10.49 at the county qualifying meet, was DQed during the 100 meter prelims at the County Championship on Tuesday.  At the start of his heat, his blocks slipped causing him to miss qualifying.  While the officials were reviewing and planning on a re-run of the heat, a meet official heard Mitchell cursing.

A jury of appeals decided to disqualify Mitchell from the rest of the meet.  According to FHSAA rules, at minimum he must then miss one week and two contests.  This could cause him to forfeit the April 23 district meet and therefore the remainder of the state series.  You can bet an appeal will be filed to the FHSAA and we have not heard the last of this one.
