Bracy, Whitfield Accept Invites To Brooks PR In Seattle

Cousins Marvin Bracy and Levonte "Kermit" Whitfield have been invited to run in the prestigous Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle. Bracy is the reigning FHSAA 4A State Champion in the 100 and 200. Whitfield is the 2011 2A State Champion in the 100.  Both will compete in the 60 meter race. 

Bracy, a senior at Boone finished second in the event at the University of Washington in 2011. His time of 6.75 was five one-hundreths behind winner Damiere Byrds 6.70. Bracy won the remainder of races he competed in including the inauguaral Dream 100, the USATF Junior National Championship in a blazing 10.05, and the Pan Am Junior Championships in 10.09.

Joining him on the trip will be cousin Levonte Whitfield. The Jones junior won the Golden South Classic in a personal best 10.31, a nationally ranked top five time, and tops for any runner in the junior class. 

Last year the Sunshine State was well represented with nine athletes heading to the Pacific Northwest. St. Thomas Aquinas star Arman Hall ran in the the event last year, but has informed flrunners.com he will not be attending this year and will be running in the Louie Bing Classic instead. As runners are announced we will make sure to keep you posted. The meet is held at the Dempsey Indoor Stadium at the University of Washington on February 26, 2012.

UPDATE:  Other Florida entrants include Jerimy Strainge of North Broward Prep who finished third in last year's 60 meter race. On the girls' side a pair of Boyd Anderson sprinters Shayla Sanders and Kali Davis-White will show their speed in the 60. Miami Northwestern hurdler Artie Burns is still undecided as to whether he will compete in the meet or run at the Louie Bing Classic in Miami.
