FACA Senior All-Star Watch List

With District week and Region week behind us, it's time for the third installment of the FACA Senior All-Star Watch List; one more week to go before Round 4, the final Watch List, gets released after the State Championship. In past years the selection process was only according to State performances, and although this season's final selections will place the most amount of emphasis on the State meet, where everyone runs the same course on the same day, we will also take into account other factors (e.g.- state series performances, PRs, performance consistency, etc).

Important Information for potential Senior All-Stars

As we get closer to the final selection process, here's some important information that you'll need to know before you have the opportunity to be officially selected. These are the requirements as stipulated by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) for all high school sports and their FACA Senior All-Star games, tournaments, and competitions. If you have any questions about the information listed, please contact Coach Kristin McWilliams, the FACA Cross Country Chair; her email is listed at the end of this article.

Senior All-Star Selection Requirements:

1) Be one of the top eight seniors in your respective geographical location after the State Championship.
- But don't worry if you're not in the top eight, it is very common for athletes in the top 15 or top 20 to be selected. We've even been known to select athletes from stronger geographical regions to possibly run for weaker regions. So keep running strong, everyone!

2) Your high school coach must be a member of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.
- If your high school coach is a member, your graduation year (2013) will be highlighted in green. If your high school coach is not a member, your graduation year will be highlighted in red. If you're green, you're good to go; if you're red then have your high school coach sign up!

3) You will need to secure a $75 sponsorship fee for yourself to help cover the cost of the event.
- The $75 sponsorship fee will help cover the cost of everything that goes on with the meet (excluding your personal traveling costs); this includes: Hotel costs, the Friday night banquet, FACA commemorative t-shirts, FACA drawstring shoe bags, All-Star gold medallions, and a plaque for each individual race champion.
- The sponsorship fee should try to be obtained by a team's booster club, the athlete's school, through a parent's work place, or even by a local business or local running store. All athletes that make the final selection process will receive a sponsorship donation request form to help all athletes obtain the donation fee.
