Evangelical Christian School senior Sarah Candiano ran a season best of 18:11.19 at the FSU Invitational/Pre-State to come in third place. She was the top 1A finisher in the race and her time is the fastest in the classification in 2014. With the transfer of 3x 1A Cross Country Finals champion Julie Wollrath to 3A, the individual crown is up for grabs, On the boy's side Winderemere Prep senior Franco Martins clocked the fastest time in 1A at the very same meet, running a season best 15:34.67 for 9th place. The top 24 girls teams and 21 boys teams along with select individuals will compete in the prestigious Race of Champions Saturday morning at flrunners.com Invitational 15. The goal is to see how many girls can break 19 minutes and how many guys can break 16 on this fast Chain of Lakes Park course. We take a look at the individual match ups as well as team battles and see what the computers think in our virtual meet feature.

Sarah Candiano (1A), Tsion Yared (2A), and Emily Headley (4A) all represent different classifications, but which group is collectively the best? Darrin DeTorres decided to run the numbers. He took the ten best girls times in each class this season and scored a traditional cross country meet. The results are pretty neat and might come as a surprise to some!
