It was just over four years ago that former Episcopal star Tim McLeod shocked the Florida running community with his national caliber track season.  In the spring of 2004, McLeod took his running to the next level with state leading performances in the 3200m and 1600m in times of 9:00 and 4:17.  For his senior campaign McLeod took his training to Tucson, Arizona where his progress led him to sign with Indiana University.

It was over seven years ago that Winter Park standout Mike Swope broke away from the star-studded 4a field of the 2000 State Cross Country Finals in Titusville. But it almost seems like yesterday that the highly favored Jefferson twins of Atlantic were upset by Swope’s courageous performance. Following his state championship, where he blazed through the three mile course in 14:54, Swope qualified for Footlocker Nationals and finished in an impressive 16th place in the nation.

Florida fans knew they’d be seeing more than four years of collegiate racing from Atlantic’s Sean Jefferson following his record setting senior season. In 2001, Sean capped off his high school career by blowing away the 4a 3200m field and smashing his own state meet record by 14 seconds in a time of 8:59.03.
