Rushing decided to forego her senior track season for the Chargers when she enrolled at the University of Florida at the beginning of the month.

As a freshman in 2012,  Kimani competed as a 100m and 200m sprinter. During that time, track and field was a hobby to her, not a passion. After getting a taste of high school track and field, she considered her freshmen year a disappointment.
